Intensive Empowerment Program (IEP)
Our most popular signature service is The Morris Center’s Intensive Empowerment Program (IEP), for once, an IEP that truly can be “life changing” according to our clients. The IEP starts with a comprehensive transdisciplinary team evaluation and then a two-, three-, four-, five- or six-month training program to empower each client to their full potential. The duration of the Intensive Empowerment Program depends on goals, budget, logistics and the timeline preferred by the family. Overall, The Morris Center IEP training actually does empower your child, teen or adult with our highest caliber team’s efficiency, effectiveness and ability to customize this training program to help clients make the most gains across the largest number of skills and abilities in the shortest amount of time possible.
Our Intensive Empowerment Program (IEP) training provides a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 training sessions per day (during an 8 am to 3 pm), is always provided 5 days per week and is customized depending upon the client’s goals, number and severity of skills that need to be empowered to reach these goals.
Our IEP team includes a Neuropsychologist/Clinical or School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, counselor and educators who are trained across each others’ professional disciplines to provide a highly coordinated, comprehensive, individualized and effective range of evaluations and empowering services. The 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 sessions per day will include a customized plan of OT, NOW! Foundations®, NOW! Grammar and Writing®, NOW! Mental Imagery®, NOW! Math Concept Imagery®, and/or Supportive Counseling.
Common outcomes for children, teens or adults with Learning Disorders or Dyslexia (ie entering TMC reading at the 5th percentile compared to same-aged peers) include the ability to do one or more of the following, depending on the agreed upon TMC IEP treatment goals:
- read at or above grade level in reading accuracy (in our NICHD randomized controlled trials research studies, students improved their fluency/speed of reading in 6-12 months of ‘practice’ using their new and stronger reading and spelling skills),
- comprehend or learn at or above grade level,
- write sentences, paragraphs or essays at or above grade level,
- perform mathematics at or above grade level,
- engage in social, leisure or sports activities with stronger confidence and abilities,
- be more adaptable to changes in routine, plans or events,
- better able to verbally communicate their needs, wants or interests.
Further, increasingly over time both during and after IEP training, students commonly have:
- markedly improved sensory, motor, behavioral, mood, regulation, attention/focus, and
- more efficient processing and speed of processing too.
